PROVO, Utah — Provo Canyon has been closed to all site visitors Friday afternoon as a result of an avalanche masking US-189.

The Utah Freeway Patrol stated the closure is anticipated to stay in place for 5-6 hours in order that crews can clear the street. In keeping with the UHP, the avalanche was brought on by mitigation operations within the space.
