ST. GEORGE — A person was shot and killed by police close to the Utah-Arizona border Wednesday, after police say officers responded to a report of a person “performing erratically and brandishing a weapon.”
A name got here into the Utah Freeway Patrol at 7:21 a.m. saying there was a suspicious automobile on the port of entry close to the state line on northbound I-15, St. George police stated in an announcement. When troopers arrived at 7:38 a.m., they discovered a person “performing erratically and brandishing a weapon.”
Police stated the troopers then arrange containment positions and requested backup from different companies, together with St. George police, and disaster negotiators.
“Regardless of officers’ efforts to deescalate this incident, the male was shot by an officer and died on the scene,” the assertion says. Police didn’t say what prompted the officer to shoot the person, nor did they are saying which company the officer works for.
The St. George Information stated the pictures have been fired about 8:40 a.m., about an hour after troopers from Utah and Arizona arrived.
The Washington County Important Incident Activity Drive shall be investigating the police taking pictures.
