Struggling Mariners place Toro on IL, DFA Souza

BOSTON — The struggling Seattle Mariners made just a few roster strikes earlier than Sunday’s collection finale towards the Pink Sox.

They positioned second baseman Abraham Toro on the 15-day injured checklist with a sprained left shoulder and designated outfielder Steven Souza Jr. for project.

Toro, who’s batting .179 with six homers and 13 RBIs, was injured in Saturday’s 6-5 loss when he collided with proper fielder Adam Frazier going after a popup within the first inning, hitting the bottom after a catch.

The 33-year-old Souza appeared in simply six video games, going 3-for-19.

To take their locations, the workforce recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell and chosen utility participant Sam Haggerty from Triple-A Tacoma.

Seattle enters Sunday having misplaced 18 of its final 24 video games and has dropped the primary three of a four-game collection towards the Pink Sox.
