Shiffrin leads 1st run of GS as she chases record win No. 83

SAN VIGILIO DI MAREBBE, Italy — (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin holds a slim lead in the course of the first run of a large slalom and is in place for a record-breaking 83rd World Cup win.

Shiffrin presently shares the ladies’s file of 82 wins with former American teammate Lindsey Vonn.

Shiffrin stood 0.13 seconds forward of world champion Lara Intestine-Behrami and 0.27 forward of house favourite Federica Brignone on the Kronplatz resort in San Vigilio on Tuesday.

Petra Vlhova, Shiffrin’s traditional rival, was 1.01 again, with Olympic champion Sara Hector almost two seconds behind.

Decrease-ranked skiers have been nonetheless coming down the course.

The second run begins at 1:30 p.m.
