A man shot a suspected burglar in Seattle early Friday morning, police said.

It happened at an apartment complex in the 100 block of 21st Avenue around 1:00 a.m., according to a post on the Seattle Police Department (SPD) Blotter.

Suspect tried to enter several units, report Seattle police

Police said a 28-year-old man had reportedly been trying to force his way into several units.

“Officers went to a third-floor apartment, where they spoke with a 31-year-old man and his wife, who were also in the home with their 2-year-old child,” the post said. “The victims told police the suspect had broken through an exterior door, attempted to enter multiple units, and eventually came to their apartment, where he began yelling and kicking at the door.”

Police said that according to the residents, the man in that unit warned the suspect several times before he forced the door open.

The man then fired one shot through the door, hitting the suspect in the leg.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was then arrested for burglary.
