Earthquake hits western Washington near Seattle area, no damage or injuries reported

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit the western Washington area Sunday night just before 7:30 p.m. local time, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the earthquake was about two miles northeast of Marrowstone, Washington and about 41 miles southeast of British Columbia.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the quake hit at a depth of 57 kilometers and it was widely felt around the Puget Sound region. Some light to moderate shaking could be felt around the Oak Harbor region, while some weak shaking could be felt near Seattle and Olympia, according to the USGS.

No damage or injuries have been reported. Additionally, the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center says there is no threat expected in or near Seattle.
