Amazon pulling out of downtown Seattle office tower after 12 years
SEATTLE — Extra tech employees are shifting out of downtown Seattle.
Amazon is shifting staff out of the West eighth Tower at 2001 Eighth Avenue, a block away from the corporate’s headquarters and iconic Amazon Spheres.
The corporate mentioned it will likely be shifting about 2,000 employees into different workplace areas throughout the Puget Sound area, based on the Puget Sound Enterprise Journal. Its lease is about to run out in April.
The tech big had been within the constructing for 12 years, PSBJ reported.
Amazon says the choice is in response to the continued shift to distant work.
The information comes shortly after Amazon introduced it will reduce greater than 18,000 jobs. However the firm mentioned the transfer out of West eighth is unrelated to the layoffs and it’s merely letting its lease expire.
