After a tremendous rally, Nevada ran out of juice and dropped its second straight game.
The Wolf Pack battled back from a 16-point deficit to tie the game at 53, but San Diego State then woke up and took a 71-59 win on Wednesday in a men’s basketball game at Viejas Arena in San Diego.
Nevada dropped to 15-3 overall, 2-2 in the Mountain West. The Aztecs improved to 15-3, 4-1.
Nevada has not won at Viejas since joining the Mountain West in 2012 and is 0-12 in that time. The Wolf Pack beat the Aztecs in Reno last season.
Tre Coleman led the Wolf Pack with 16 points, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and Kenan Blackshear had 14.
The Wolf Pack hit 22-of-53 from the field (41.5 percent) while the Aztecs hit 23-of-51 (45.1 percent).
Blackshear surpassed the 1,000-point mark in a Wolf Pack uniform and has 1,009 points at Nevada.
Jaedon Ledee led the Aztecs with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Turnover trouble
The Pack committed 14 turnovers, and had 11 assists.
The Aztecs had 12 turnovers and six assists.
No free ones
Nevada has been solid at the free throw line most of this season, but the Aztecs took 17 more free throws Wednesday and went 22-34 from the line.
Nevada was 7-17 from the free throw line.
Rebounding Woes
San Diego State held a huge advantage on the boards outrebounding Nevada 44-25, including a huge 20-1 edge in offensive rebounds

Nevada hit 6-of-23 from 3-point range, 6-13 in the second half.
The Aztecs hit 5-21 from 3-point range.
