Rylee McCoy, No. 14 Oregon softball sweep doubleheader with San Diego, Portland State
Rylee McCoy combined for five hits and three RBIs to lead No. 14 Oregon softball to a doubleheader sweep of San Diego and Portland State.
McCoy went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in a 9-5 win over San Diego and 3 for 3 with a home run in a 9-1 win in six innings over Portland State Friday afternoon at Jane Sanders Stadium.
She got the scoring started for Oregon (17-1) with a two-run single in a three-run first against USD.
San Diego scored five runs in the fifth via an RBI double, passed ball, two RBI singles and a wild pitch, but Lyndsey Grein eventually got out of the jam and left the bases loaded.
Oregon scored five in the bottom of the inning via a ground out, error, wild pitch and RBI single. The Ducks added another in the sixth on another wild pitch.
Grein (10-0) allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks and struck out five over 2.2 innings of relief.
Against PSU, UO took a 4-0 lead after two thanks to three productive outs and a solo home run by Dezi Patmon.
Both teams scored in the third and McCoy homered and Kedre Luschar hit a two-run double in the fourth.
Katie Flanney’s RBI single in the sixth invoked the run rule.
Taylour Spencer (2-1) allowed one unearned run on two hits and one walk and struck out eight over 6.0 IP.
The Ducks host San Diego at 3:30 p.m. and Loyola Chicago at 6 p.m. Saturday.
