Oceanside Official Allegedly Viewed Pornography on Library Computer

Victor Roy, Oceanside’s elected metropolis treasurer, checked out pornography on a pc on the metropolis’s Mission Department Library in June 2021, in accordance with an nameless grievance filed in opposition to him on the time.

“He was taking a look at magazines that when he clicked on the quilt, the photographs contained in the journal have been full nudity,” reads the grievance, obtained by Voice of San Diego via a public data request.  

Roy was informed by library employees that he couldn’t view nudity on public computer systems, and Roy “stated he knew, that’s the reason he got here when it was sluggish and that he was being cognizant of his environment,” in accordance with the grievance.  

Assistant Metropolis Supervisor Michael Gossman informed Voice of San Diego that library employees gave Roy a warning, and that employees has not witnessed every other inappropriate conduct by him since. 

The allegation was one among many included in a June 6 e mail from Steve Hodges, Oceanside’s treasury supervisor, to Roy and that has been circulating on-line since. Gossman confirmed that the e-mail is genuine. 

The opposite allegations within the e mail declare that Roy was negligent in funding choices that misplaced the town cash, that Roy illegally requested Hodges to donate to his 2020 marketing campaign and that he constantly acted “inappropriately” towards a former metropolis worker who handed away in 2021. 

Town treasurer is chargeable for overseeing the administration of the town’s $450 million funding fund. It’s an elected place in Oceanside, however in different cities, like the town of San Diego, it’s an appointed place. 

Roy and Hodges couldn’t be reached for remark. 

Roy was elected to the town treasurer seat for a partial time period in 2018 and re-elected in 2020 after operating unopposed. His time period ends in 2024.
