Molly taught elementary-grade students for 29 years in the Cajon Valley Union School District. She worked tirelessly to educate and respect each of her students, and found great joy in building lasting relationships with many students. While her dedication to teaching and to making a positive impact on her environment was remarkable, none benefited more from Molly’s life of loving service than her beloved family and friends.

Molly was a phenomenal cook and nutritionist. Her kitchen activities were even appreciated by a little rooster that simply appeared one day and watched through the window for years. She named him Herman. In addition to many travels, avid reading, and faithful support of San Diego State athletics, Molly and Bobby both pursued their creative talents after retirement. Molly studied basket-making and beading, and blessed her family with her basketry art pieces.

Molly is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Earl Long of El Cajon, CA; two sisters, Julia Davie Bender and husband Jerry, of Richmond, VA, and Rebecca Bedon Williams of Corinth, MS; her son, William David Long and wife, Cindy Bilyeu of La Mesa, CA, and her daughter, Mary Louise Doster and husband Ron, of El Cajon, CA; two grandchildren, Jessica Graves (Ryan) and Austen Doster (Emily), of Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Lauryn Graves and Tripp and Mac Doster of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Martin Long, and her parents.

There will be a gathering to celebrate Molly’s life 10:00AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at her alma mater, San Diego State University, in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center. Selected family and friends will speak about her life’s accomplishments and joys. Molly’s cremains will be returned to Corinth, MS and buried along side her parents.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice, in her honor.
