From the Archives goes back today to a joyous time: The end of World War II. In this photo, servicemen and civilians celebrate VJ Day, the announcement of Japan’s surrender, in downtown San Diego on Aug. 14, 1945. The extra newspaper edition is from the San Diego Daily Journal.
