Former San Diego State OL Jonah Rodriguez commits to Arizona
Arizona is back to being a two-Jonah team.
Former San Diego State offensive lineman Jonah Rodriguez has committed to the Wildcats for the 2024 season. He has four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting last season with the Aztecs.
“Something that stood out was definitely how close the team was,” Rodriguez told 247Sports’ Jason Scheer after making an official visit over the weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Rodriguez was a 3-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class who picked SDSU over offers from a variety of schools out west including Arizona, who extended an offer in 2021. He was the No. 1,006 overall prospect in that class, as well as the 74th-best offensive tackle and No. 89 player from California.
From San Diego, Rodriguez will provide depth at both guard and tackle for an Arizona line that is set to return four starters from the 2023 team which won 10 games and the Alamo Bowl. He is the second offensive lineman the UA has added via the NCAA transfer portal this spring, joining ex-Oregon OL Michael Wooten, and they also added Alexander Doost (Northwestern) and Ryan Stewart (San Jose State) in the winter.
