Police are searching for two men in connection with an armed carjacking in Mission Valley Friday morning, officials said.

The incident was reported around 2:45 a.m. after a 28-year-old man was sitting in his Honda Element waiting for a tow truck on Hotel Circle Place north of Interstate 8, near The Remy steakhouse and the Auto Club, Officer David O’Brien said in a news release.

An assailant walked up to the driver’s side window, displayed a large knife and demanded the man’s keys, O’Brien said. The victim also gave the armed man his cellphone, police said.

The suspect drove the victim’s SUV away from the scene, police said. O’Brien said the carjacker was accompanied by another man.
