Zak Taylor Joins Oregon State Baseball Staff – Oregon State University Athletics
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Zak Taylor, a former Oregon State infielder and 2018 National Champion, has joined the Oregon State staff as the Director of Beaver Baseball Personnel, Mitch Canham announced Wednesday.
“From Sherwood High School, to Oregon State, to professional baseball, and now training student athletes, Zak excels in teaching kids and families the proper mental and life skills to reach their peak performance,” said Canham, the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach at OSU. “Another Beaver great is returning home to join the staff.”
With Oregon State, Taylor will be responsible for working with the team’s alumni, OSU’s camps as well as the mental skills aspect of baseball. He’s returning to Oregon State after working as a mental performance trainer with ROKKE performance therapy.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity to be back at Oregon State,” Taylor said. “To call this place home again is special. I’m looking forward to help build upon the foundation and culture that was already set here in Corvallis. Thank you to Coach Canham and the staff for having me on board.”
Taylor, who graduated with a degree in psychology after the 2019 season, played in 141 games over four seasons for the Beavers, starting in 82. He batted .233 with 20 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 40 runs batted in. The Sherwood, Ore., native drew a walk to open the ninth inning in game two of the 2018 College World Series Championship Series against Arkansas.
