We entered the previous week in Pac-12 males’s basketball figuring out that if Oregon and Colorado have been going to make any transfer within the pursuit of an NCAA Event berth, they wanted to get on a roll and keep scorching for a number of weeks.
That very clearly didn’t occur this previous week.
Oregon misplaced to Pac-12 bottom-feeder Stanford on Saturday evening. The Geese’ sample of going from elite to terrible and again once more continues. The group which crushed Arizona by 19 one week in the past was a pumpkin towards Stanford, a group which entered Saturday’s sport 1-7 within the Pac-12. This has been Oregon’s modus operandi the previous two seasons, not simply this one.
Geese wire had extra on the story:
“On Saturday evening, Oregon closed out their Bay Space street journey with a disastrous loss to the Stanford Cardinal, falling 71-64 to the last-place group within the Pac-12. It characteristic abysmal capturing, poor effort till it was too late, and one other head-scratcher for Altman in a season that’s been filled with them,” Geese Wire editor Zachary Neel wrote.
“The Geese’ likelihood at an at-large bid into the NCAA Event is all however dashed, and it’s seeming possible that will probably be one other journey to the NIT for Oregon.”
In the meantime, just a few days earlier than Oregon face-planted, Colorado misplaced at residence to Washington. The Buffaloes received swept by the mediocre Huskies this season, having misplaced in Seattle in early December. Colorado has misplaced to Cal and is 3-6 within the Pac-12. CU’s NCAA hopes — barring a Pac-12 Event championship run — have been put to mattress.
So, the bubble image within the Pac-12 is pretty clear. UCLA and Arizona are NCAA Event locks, leaving Arizona State, USC and Utah as three groups vying for at-large berths. ASU is at present in the perfect place, however not by a lot, after getting blasted by USC. The Trojans’ large win strikes them nearer to ASU, and Utah’s sweep of the Washington faculties improves their bubble place.
Notably, USC is 2-0 towards ASU and Utah, and could have another sport towards every college within the coming weeks.
