Oregon officials worry state is ‘too late’ to cash in on federal chips funding

Oregon civic and enterprise leaders are speeding to organize new incentives for the semiconductor trade, hoping to lure billion-dollar factories with extra land, incentives and staff – and fewer regulatory hurdles.

Some financial improvement officers say it’s already too late, although, lamenting that Oregon was ill-prepared to capitalize on $52 billion in federal funds Congress licensed final summer time. With federal businesses set to start doling out the CHIPS Act cash in February, there’s rising concern the state has run out of time.
