Oregon officials continue search for 2-year-old boy who vanished from front yard
Oregon authorities are continuing their search efforts for a 2-year-old boy who disappeared over the weekend.
The child, identified as Dane Paulsen, was reported missing on Saturday afternoon, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the boy’s home, located north of Siletz, just before 4:30 p.m.
Officials said he was last seen playing in the front yard. Dane is described as having brown hair and green eyes, and was last sporting black pants, a grey fuzzy hoody with ears and blue and white shoes.
“Dane is friendly and fearless, and is comfortable around strangers and water, but cannot swim,” the sheriff’s office continued. “Dane is known to love water and vehicles.”
Several other agencies, including the state police and search and rescue teams, are assisting with this case.
Search efforts continue Monday
On Sunday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said no evidence so far points to criminal actions. The agency has poured multiple resources into this investigation, noting that “382 acres have been searched and 283 miles have been covered.”
In addition to search crews and volunteers, officials used divers, watercraft, and K9s to track Dane down in the first few hours of his disappearance.
The search continued on Monday, and authorities are investigating tips from the community.
“Once again, we thank our community for their compassion and assistance,” the sheriff’s office stated in an update. “Our team and the community are working to bring Dane home.”
Siletz is about 90 miles from Eugene.
