Oregon National Guard troops return home after nearly a year in Poland
CLACKAMAS, Ore. (KPTV) – Greater than 120 Oregon Nationwide Guard troopers who’ve been serving in Poland in assist of U.S. NATO allies are residence.
The women and men are a part of Charlie Firm, 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry Regiment. They mobilized in Jan. 2022 for his or her practically year-long deployment.
As a part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, they supported efforts to discourage Russian aggression after the preliminary invasion of Ukraine in Feb. 2022.
Gov. Tina Kotek, Sen. Ron Wyden and Maj. Gen. Michael Stencel hosted the demobilization ceremony in Clackamas. Kotek addressed the troopers for the primary time as commander in chief.
“I’m not shocked that you just have been there doing very key work at a essential time as a result of that’s what the Oregon Nationwide Guard has been doing,” Kotek stated. “You’re no stranger to demanding conditions and you’re well-equipped.”
This deployment was one of many largest mobilizations of Oregon Nationwide Huard citizen troopers since operation Enduring Freedom in 2006.
