Oregon Ducks QB Bo Nix getting New York billboard
It appears Oregon is bringing back a New York billboard advertising campaign for its starting quarterback.
Twenty-two years after Oregon paid $250,000 for a 10-story billboard promoting then-quarterback Joey Harrington across the street from Madison Square Garden, an even bigger billboard of Ducks quarterback Bo Nix is in the process of being painted in Midtown Manhattan.
Pictures of the 151-foot by 90-foot billboard at 315 Park Avenue South began circulating online Tuesday night showing Nix in a white Oregon jersey and green helmet with his arms raised. Above him is the early outline of the word “bodacious” with Bo vertical in large block green letters and “dacious” horizontally in smaller black text that appears to be held by Nix in the image.
“I could not love this any more!” Harrington tweeted. “Go shock the world Bo! Our whole @uoregon @GoDucks family is behind you!! #scoducks”
OUTFRONT, the advertising firm that controls the billboard in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan, claims the billboard is “the largest outdoor advertisement of its kind in the area” and that it generates nearly 600,000 weekly impressions.
It’s not immediately clear how much the billboard cost UO. An athletic department spokesperson did not immediately respond to a an inquiry on the matter.
Nix completed 71.9% of his passes for 3,593 yards with 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions and rushed for 510 yards and 14 scores last season. His odds of winning the Heisman Trophy in 2023 are +1800, tied for seventh highest by FanDuel entering the season.
