Oregon climbs in latest AP Top 25 poll after Week 1 beatdown – Saturday Out West
Oregon is ranked No. 13 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, released on Tuesday.
The Ducks opened Year 2 of the Dan Lanning era with a modern program record for points scored in a single game. On Saturday, Oregon scored touchdowns on its first nine possessions to run away from the Portland State Vikings and win 81-7.
Led by quarterback Bo Nix, Oregon put up 729 yards of offense. Nix completed 23 of his 27 passes for 287 yards and three scores. Troy Franklin and Gary Bryant Jr. both topped 100 receiving yards, both brought in seven receptions, and both scored a pair of touchdowns.
On the ground, Bucky Irving ran for 119 yards and two scores. Jordan James added 86 yards and three scores.
It was as clean an opener as a coach could hope for. And the Ducks moved up two spots as a result
The USC Trojans are the highest-ranked Pac-12 team in the AP poll, sitting at No. 6. Washington is just behind them at No. 8. Oregon is also joined in the latest poll by No. 12 Utah, No. 16 Oregon State, and No. 22 Colorado
