Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson accepts invite to Senior Bowl
Jackson Powers-Johnson might get to snap to Bo Nix again.
Oregon’s All-American center accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl on Feb. 3 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
This is the first year underclassmen who have yet to graduate are eligible to play in college all-star games and Powers-Johnson is one of 15 underclassmen headed to the Senior Bowl.
In his first year as a full-time starter, Powers-Johnson won the Rimington Trophy and became the fifth unanimous All-American in UO history while not allowing a sack and giving up just one pressure in 471 pass-blocking opportunities. He led all FBS centers in pass-blocking grade (91.3), overall grade (83.2) and run-blocking grade (83.1) by Pro Football Focus.
Powers-Johnson will be the 47th Oregon player to appear at the Senior Bowl and join Nix, defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus and cornerback Khyree Jackson at this year’s game.
It’s the most UO players to accept invitations to the Senior Bowl since 2020, when Justin Herbert, Troy Dye, Shane Lemieux and Calvin Throckmorton accepted, though Dye and Lemieux later withdrew. The Senior Bowl hosted UO’s DJ Johnson last season.
