OHCS AWARDS $7.5 MILLION TO HELP PROVIDE HOUSING IN RURAL OREGON

Oregon Housing and Community Services has awarded $7.5 million in funding allocated through the Homeless Housing Response and Capacity Strengthening Notice of Funding Availability.
An OHCS release said this is the first award of a one-time $25 HOME American Rescue Plan federal investment. These funds will go towards developing housing for those who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness in Oregon’s rural communities.
The award went to develop Liberty Village Apartments in Hermiston which will focus on veterans at risk of homelessness. This property is being built by Umatilla County Housing Authority and Casa of Oregon. The project will provide 17 total homes, 15 with rental assistance, and primarily affordable at 30% median family income.
OHCS has reserved $1.5 million to provide rural housing organizations with funding to increase their capacity to address housing needs in their communities. Applicants include seven organizations in rural areas including Peace at Home Advocacy Center in Douglas County.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon DMV issued a warning for drivers, saying scammers are still sending out fake text messages trying to steal money from people.
State DMV officials say it is part of a nationwide scam that’s been happening for nearly two years.
The fake text messages often come from international phone numbers or non-government email addresses.
In the messages, the scammers threaten to suspend car registration or driving privileges if a person doesn’t pay.
If you get this message, the DMV asks that you don’t click on any links or respond. Simply report it to the Federal Trade Commission or delete it.

The price for admission is fine because we know it’s going towards putting money into the trains again, which I’ll always love doing that.
