Microchip will lay off 2,000 in Oregon, Colorado and the Philippines

Microchip Technology detailed plans Monday to lay off 2,000 more workers across the company as it responds to steeply falling sales.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported last week that the Arizona-based chipmaker planned layoffs at its factories in Gresham and Colorado Springs, but Microchip said at the time it hadn’t determined just how many jobs to cut.
