Mason Neville homers twice, No. 6 Oregon baseball evens series at Michigan State

Mason Neville added to his national home run lead and helped No. 6 Oregon even the series with Michigan State.

Neville had two homers and four RBIs to lead eight players with multiple hits for the Ducks in a 13-5 win over the Spartans Saturday afternoon at McLane Stadium in East Lansing.

Oregon (32-13, 15-8 Big Ten) plated four in the first via RBI singles by Drew Smith, Burke-Lee Mabeus and Ryan Cooney and a sacrifice fly by Anson Aroz.

Michigan State scored two in the second and two more in the third to tie it.

Oregon regained the lead in the fourth via an error and RBI ground out, then Neville hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Jacob Walsh added a solo shot in the sixth to make it 9-4.

Collin Clarke (4-2) allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks and struck out five over six innings. Ian Umlandt allowed one run on four hits over three innings to earn his first save of the season.

The teams traded runs in the seventh, Aroz homered in the eighth and Neville capped the day with another two-run homer in the ninth.

Tate Farquhar allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits, two walks and one hit batter over three innings for the Spartans (24-20, 10-13).

The teams conclude the series at 8:30 a.m. PT Sunday.
