Lawmakers float $1 billion plan for Oregon’s share of new Interstate Bridge
Oregon legislators have proposed a plan to borrow $1 billion to pay the state’s share of a brand new Interstate Bridge throughout the Columbia River, the majority to be repaid from fuel taxes and different freeway funds.
The Legislature’s Joint Transportation Committee circulated a draft price range this week. The plan proposes bonding towards $700 million of state freeway consumer tax income from the Oregon Division of Transportation, together with gasoline taxes, weight-mile taxes for freight vehicles and automobile registration charges.
