City of Eugene, University of Oregon yet to finalize proposed land swap that will allow for new indoor football practice facility

Negotiations between the city of Eugene and University of Oregon for a proposed land swap that will facilitate UO rerouting Leo Harris Parkway in order to accommodate a new indoor football practice facility remain ongoing.

More than a year since the Eugene City Council authorized city Manager Sarah Medary to negotiate details of the land swap with the university, and more than seven months since it authorized her to finalize an agreement, the sides still have yet to do so.

“We continue to work on the final agreement with the University of Oregon and continue to work with impacted stakeholders,” said Lindsay Selser, public information officer with the City of Eugene’s planning & development department. “The deal will not need to go back to the Eugene City Council to be finalized when it is ready, the Eugene City Council did authorize the City Manager to finalize. The City of Eugene is in the early stages of working with the University of Oregon on Privately Engineered Public Improvement (PEPI) permits for the initial work that will be done to re-align Leo Harris Parkway.”
