Even though New Mexico leading scorer Jamal Mashburn Jr (18.2 ppg) may not play, the Lobos have two other proven scorers in Jaelen House with an average of 17.3 points per game and Donovan Dent with an average of 16.4 points per game. Two other players also average double figures in scoring for the Lobos. UC Santa Barbara is allowing an average of 74.3 points per game and 44.1% shooting and New Mexico, with an average of 85.5 points per game and 47.3% shooting overall while hitting 36.5% from 3 point land, will take advantage of the weak Gauchos defense. Even though New Mexico plays uptempo which gives opponents plenty of possession, the Lobos are allowing an average of just 68.1 points per game. With both playing very uptempo games, the Lobos have the big advantage, first playing at home and second with such a high field goal shooting percentage. If Mashburn is able to play, things will be even worse for UC Santa Barbara’s defense.
