New Mexico’s Sex Abuse Suit Against Meta Returns to State Court

The New Mexico attorney general’s lawsuit accusing Meta Platforms Inc. of facilitating child sexual abuse was transferred back to state court from a federal district court.

US District Judge Margaret Strickland on Monday granted the state’s motion to remand the case to a court in Santa Fe County, where attorney general Raúl Torrez originally filed the sweeping lawsuit in December.

The complaint alleged that Facebook and Instagram are a “breeding ground” for predators who target children for sex trafficking, and that the platforms allow users to trade “enormous volumes” of child sexual abuse material.
