New Mexico State Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KCBD) – New Mexico State Police are investigating an officer-involved taking pictures in Northeast Albuquerque on November 16.

Round 11 p.m., a New Mexico State Police officer made a site visitors cease on a suspected drunk driver with no headlights swerving within the roadway close to the intersection of Montgomery and Louisiana.

The officer noticed a number of edged weapons contained in the automobile and the suspect refused to exit. Investigators say a second officer arrived on scene and positioned spikes below the automobile. Whereas the officer was talking with the suspect and attempting to get him out of the automobile peacefully, the suspect reversed and backed into the officer’s unit.

That’s when investigators say the suspect tried to flee, however crashed into the curb on the Smith’s grocery retailer on Louisiana.

The suspect barricaded himself and refused to get out of the automobile. The Disaster Negotiation Workforce and New Mexico State Police Tactical Workforce had been known as to help.  

After hours of negotiations round 3 a.m., the person bought out of the automobile armed with a machete. Investigators say at the very least one shot was fired by two New Mexico State Law enforcement officials. The suspect was struck and killed. No officers had been injured.

Officers haven’t but recognized the suspect.
