What to Know

The New Mexico State Aggies and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are set to square off in a Conference USA battle at 7:00 p.m. ET on October 24th at Joe Aillet Stadium. New Mexico State is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Wednesday, New Mexico State’s game was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn’t stay that way. They blew past UTEP 28-7. The oddsmakers were on New Mexico State’s side, but they didn’t give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.

Diego Pavia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 186 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Monte Watkins, who rushed for 109 yards on only ten carries.

New Mexico State’s defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Buddha Peleti and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech traveled a rocky road last season, and unfortunately for them the road hasn’t gotten any smoother. They took a 31-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middle Tennessee two weeks ago. The over/under was set at 53.5 points, so nice work oddsmakers; you were right on the money.

New Mexico State is on a roll lately: they’ve won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Louisiana Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

New Mexico State will be fighting an uphill battle on Tuesday as the experts have pegged them as the 2.5-point underdog. They might be worth a quick bet since they’ve covered the spread the last five times they’ve played.
