Los Lunas Excessive College graduate Ahren Griego has been named ladies wrestling Coach of the 12 months by the New Mexico Excessive College Coaches Affiliation for his accomplishments at Volcano Vista Excessive College.

The award was introduced on the affiliation’s current banquet.

Griego guided the Hawks to an undefeated 2021-2022 common season.

“Fairly cool” is how Griego described the teaching honor.

Griego graduated from Los Lunas Excessive College in 2007. He completed as excessive as third place within the New Mexico Excessive College state match whereas wrestling beneath “two legends” in Tom Torres and Steve Chavez.

This can be Griego’s tenth season teaching boys wrestling at Volcano Vista and fourth with the ladies.

As a result of the game is new for a lot of ladies, Griego says they carry a distinct ardour to the game than the boys.

“It’s a new problem, a brand new struggle, a each day struggle,” Griego mentioned. “Whereas the boys work onerous, the ladies have way more of a need to win.”

Griego works within the autism program at Volcano Vista via Albuquerque Public Colleges.
