New Mexico
Flood watch goes into effect across parts of New Mexico Wednesday
Grant’s Tuesday Night Forecast
Storms capable of heavy rainfall are on the way Wednesday across New Mexico. Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue into early next week.
Scattered storms developed Tuesday across western and northern New Mexico. Most showers and storms have ended tonight, but some spotty showers will stick around through the overnight. It’s also been a very hot day, with more high temperatures in the 90s and triple-digits across the state.
Our weather becomes even more active starting Wednesday as more showers and thunderstorms will develop across the state in the afternoon. These storms will be capable of very heavy rainfall, especially over northern and central parts of New Mexico. Showers and storms will move clockwise around an area of high pressure that will be along the New Mexico/Arizona state line. There will be a very high threat of burn scar flash flooding for northern mountain burn scar areas. A Flood Watch is in effect for parts of New Mexico Wednesday, including the Albuquerque Metro.
This active weather pattern will continue into the end of this week, through the weekend, and into early next week. Every day, storms will develop early in the afternoon and drift off the mountains and into lower elevations. Storms will be capable of heavy rainfall and burn scar flash flooding.
