RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada has received a $19,000 grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation for fire preparedness.

The money will be used for the ongoing Home Fire Campaign, aimed at preparing the community for fires and installing free smoke alarms across northern and rural Nevada.

More than 550 smoke alarms have been installed in homes around the area in the last year by volunteers with Northern Nevada Red Cross. The new grant money will help ensure that can continue.
