Two people from Oregon were killed following a two-vehicle collision in Lyon County on April 23, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

State troopers responded to the fatal crash at approximately 8:21 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 827 and State Route 208 in Yerington. A preliminary investigation reveals that a Toyota RAV4 was traveling eastbound on SR-827 when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the SR-208 intersection. The Toyota entered the intersection and struck a southbound Ram 2500 pickup truck.

The force of the collision caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway and overturn. The Toyota struck a boulder and a fence before landing on its right side, while the pickup truck careened into a fence and flipped onto its roof.

The driver of the Toyota, 77-year-old Chin Poovichitr, and his passenger, 66-year-old Ruetai Poovichitr, both residents of Roseburg, Oregon, were rushed to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead by medical staff. The driver of the Ram pickup was also transported to a nearby medical facility with minor injuries.
