RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Ambush Haunted House is back and with Halloween right around the corner, its time to gear up to get your spook on while making a difference in the lives of children locally.

Andy Grubb and his family have been putting on the Ambush Haunted House for 18 years now, in there very own backyard. A haunted house to this scale doesn’t happen over night, Grubb shared how this project usually begins around July with the brainstorming and building process and continues through October until opening night. As soon as you step foot on the property you are transported, with larger than life animatronics along with the attention to detail through the decor, this haunted house has you terrified and mesmerized at the same time. This year they have several local sponsorships helping with everything from snacks and drinks for patrons and volunteers to new props and signage. The community has really shown up for Ambush in all ways imaginable.

Tiffany Kress, the Development Manager over at NNCCF shared how this partnership goes beyond just putting together a haunted house, “You know I always say that we can’t do what we do without the support of our community and I think that this is really wonderful that Andy has so much support from the community in building this house and then all of that support comes back to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation to help us help fund families through their child’s cancer treatment.”

Ambush Haunted House is part of the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation’s “Know the Gold” campaign. A six month long project that aims to help raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer and the gold ribbon, the national symbol for childhood cancer. The campaign will officially run from September 1 to February 13, 2025, and throughout that time all contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation, up to $775,000.
