BOZEMAN — Broadus completed the comeback by earning their way into the Class C state volleyball tournament by defeating Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale in four sets (25-14, 24-26, 25-23, 25-22) Saturday morning at the state tournament in a rematch of the Eastern C divisional championship.
The Hawks had opened the tournament with a five-set loss to Roy-Winifred on Thursday to open the tournament and have now won four elimination games on the consolation side of the bracket to play for the state title against Manhattan Christian immediately after.
Zeason Schaffer had 17 kills and four blocks for the Hawks. Aspen Krantz earned seven aces, Kendal Stanley had 41 assists and four blocks and Macyn McDowell and Mia Mader piled up 19 and 12 digs respectively.
The Mavericks secured a third-place trophy for the second year in a row.

“We’re basically a basketball team playing volleyball so we don’t spend any time, in the seven years I’ve been the head coach, in the offseason. So what we get out of volleyball is what we get out here on the court and I’m just super proud. Can’t say enough,” coach Charlene Wasson said of her team’s performance.
Teagan Erickson had 22 kills for the Mavericks. Kennedy Simonson put up 29 assists, and Paige Wasson had 15 kills, 14 digs, six assists and two aces.
