A number of prescribed burns are deliberate in western Montana this week.

If climate situations are favorable, the Lolo Nationwide Forest will conduct pile burning on as much as 50 acres within the Plains-Thompson Falls Ranger District. The burning is positioned about 6 miles west of Thompson Falls and smoke could also be seen from city, Freeway 200 and MT Freeway 7.

A separate burn is anticipated to begin Thursday close to York, northeast of Helena. The burn will happen within the Helena-Lewis and Clark Nationwide Forest on 100 to 300 acres. Residents in York will see and odor smoke and other people in Helena will see smoke northeast of city within the Huge Belt Mountains.
