CHICAGO — A federal court in Illinois granted summary judgment to hip-hop artist French Montana, who was sued by Hotwire the Producer for allegedly ripping off his song “Hood* Pushin’ Weight” to make French Montana’s hit single “Ain’t Worried About Nothin.” The court acknowledges some similarity in the underlying sounds and melodies of the two songs, but finds they are insufficient to create a triable issue of fact on Hotwire’s copyright infringement claims.
