The College of Southern Idaho and The College of Idaho mens’ basketball honor Wayne Dill in exhibition contest

DIETRICH, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho’s men’s basketball team squared off with the defending NAIA Champions, The College of Idaho on Tuesday night.

The contest was held at Dietrich High School, both teams honored legendary Dietrich boys’ basketball coach, Wayne Dill, who passed away in June.

Prior to the contest, everyone devoured chili and cinnamon rolls, with proceeds going to the Dill family and the Dietrich basketball squads.

College of Idaho basketball coach and former CSI assistant Colby Blaine spoke on Dill and the impact he left on the community as both teams got a picture with the Dill family.

The action then tipped off as both teams got settled in for the exhibition contest.

The Golden Eagles were missing several players for the contest due to injuries and illnesses, but head coach Jeff Reinert expects some of them to be available for their next scrimmage on Friday.

Unofficially, the Yotes came away with an 89-68 victory over the Golden Eagles.

CSI is back in action for their final exhibition game of the season as they host Utah Prep for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff on Friday.

They host Yavapai College next Thursday in the Idaho Central Credit Union Invitational to kick off the regular season.
