Salute to Idaho Agriculture : Burley Straw Maze
Burley, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — “I really do enjoy seeing the smiles on peoples face, it’s fun,” said Spencer Stoker, owner of the Burley Straw Maze
The Burley Straw Maze has been going on for years, where people come to do their annual fall activities. One of those is their straw maze, constructed with straw from their farm and others using approximately 1,500 bales to form the Burley Straw Maze.
Stoker mentions the maze is not the only fun option on their farm. “In the fall, we have the straw maze, and the pumpkin patch we do a haunted straw maze, on Saturday nights…we have jump houses, some obstacle courses, swinging, axe throwing, and corn canon”
As fall dwindles, one might think that the fun will end, but Stoker says they offer even more after the season. “In then in the Christmas, we do a Christmas maze. Which is full of Christmas lights, and as you find your way through the Christmas lights. It is the maze itself decked out in Christmas lights. And then we have a couple Christmas activities in that as well.”
He also adds that in the spring they offer “Animal Days,” which he describes as a “big farm petting zoo.”
While it is a big task setting the maze year after year, he highlights what he looks forward to the most. “Now we get people that have come back and say that they’ve been there their whole life or creating traditions. you get little kids say that they’ve grown up there”
