FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A very warm Saturday afternoon turned into quite a beautiful night and what better way to spend it than at the PBR Challenger Series’ Idaho PBR Classic over at Shouse Arena in Filer.

Roughly 20 riders showed up to try their luck at the eighth annual Idaho PBR Classic hoping to get their hands on some of the 27 thousand dollar prize pool for the event.

The festivities got underway at 8:00 p.m. with the national anthem and bull rider intros and from there it was time for some bull riding runs.

One of those bull riders looking to get some of that cash tonight was Elijah Monnett of Utah who recently took home his first top placing two months ago in Fresno, California.

Monnet told KMVT that his entry to the sport was through family, but for others actually getting involved in the sport is easier than one may think.

“It’s not as hard as a lot of people think honestly, you could literally become a rider, you could become a member if you wanted to, you just fill out an application. I mean obviously the hard part is staying on and competing and being able to be a contender,” Monnett said.

There were only a handful of riders that call Idaho home participating in the event tonight, but the event did attract folks from around the world even as far away as Brazil.
