Idaho State Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash on US12 east of Kooskia

KOOSKIA– The Idaho State Police are investigating a single motorcycle fatality crash that occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m. on July 17, on US12 at milepost 134.5, near the Eagle Mountain Trailhead in Idaho County. 

A 65-year-old male from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada was traveling westbound on US12 on a Triumph when he lost control, ran off the roadway, and was thrown from his motorcycle. The motorcycle and rider came to rest just off the roadway. Bystanders and other motorists made resuscitation attempts for over an hour, but the rider was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel.

The next of kin has been notified. Traffic on US12 was alternating as the westbound lane remained closed for almost 3 hours.

The Idaho State Police were assisted by Idaho County Deputies, Kooskia Ambulance, Idaho Transportation Department, and air ambulance.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
