Parenting is a circus.

Let’s keep it real, Idaho, even the best of us need an occasional break from our life-sucking monkeys.

What that looks like is different for everyone. For some, it’s a solo trip to Target. For others, it might be a year alone in the woods. Whatever it is, I’ve learned to not judge.

Everyone’s a perfect parent before they have kids.

That’s facts, y’all. Maybe that’s why we’re so damn hard on ourselves ALL. THE. TIME. I’m lookin’ at you, Mama.

Do you ever just laugh at your pre-parent self? When I think about the dozens of unattainable and unsustainable standards I was totally-for-sure going to hold myself to, I do. Oddly enough, the laughs really start rollin’ when I’m about halfway through my second tumbler of bourbon.

If there’s one thing I appreciate about my pre-parent self, it’s how much that delusional, well-rested girl strengthened my relationship with God. Because of her, I thank Him two to three times a week for making Bulleit cheaper than therapy.

If you’re worried you suck at parenting, chances are you don’t.

Life has shown me the parents who care the least are the ones who need to step it up. Relax, friend. There’s no such thing as a perfect parent. With a role model like Pete the Cat and the PBS Kids app on your side, odds are at least one of your kids will turn out fine.

At the end of the day, this is your circus and those are your monkeys. You love them more than you love yourself. And unlike the parents in the gallery below, you wouldn’t eat them even on your worst day.

Gas prices expected to exceed as the Iran conflict prompts supply shortages

BOISE, Idaho — AAA is warning Idaho gas consumers that pump prices will likely rise as the conflict in Iran disrupts oil and gas supply chains worldwide.

The ongoing turmoil in the Middle East will likely push the price for a gallon of regular gasoline past the $3 mark over the coming days.

“On one hand, the crude oil market had time to account for some financial risk in the Middle East as forces mobilized, but a supply shortage somewhere affects the global picture,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “If tankers can’t move products through the region, there could be ripple effects.”

On Monday, March 2, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.97, reports AAA, which is 12 cents more expensive than it was a month ago but 20 cents less than this time last year.

Idaho politicians respond to Trump authorizing U.S military force in Iran

“Idaho has thousands of active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, and military families who live with the consequences when leaders make reckless choices,” she says.

However, not all lawmakers share Necochea’s sentiments.

Idaho Republican representative Mike Simpson commends President Trump’s “decisive action” in Iran.
