Suspect arrested, officer hurt during police investigation on Hawaii Island
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A suspect was arrested and an officer was hurt during a police investigation in the Volcano area of Hawaii Island on Thursday, authorities said.
Police sent out an alert out around 8:30 a.m., asking the public to avoid the area of Nahelenani Street in the Mauna Loa Estates subdivision.
Officials say the officer suffered a laceration to the arm, but it’s not clear what exactly happened.
Authorities say this is still an active and ongoing investigation and more information will become available soon.
There is no danger to the community at this time, police said.
