Recall posted for possibly contaminated salad kits sold in Hawaii
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Potential contamination of salad products sold in Hawaii has prompted a consumer recall alert.
The state Department of Health says three varieties of Ready Pac Foods, Inc. salad kits may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Kits were sold across the U.S. including Walmart and Costco locations in Hawaii.
The potential contamination lies with the cheese used in the kits. The cheese products were recently recalled by Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc. If ingested, contaminated foods can cause listeriosis, a serious and sometimes fatal infection, the DOH said.
So far, there have been no reports of adverse impacts in Hawaii.
Items under the recall include:
- Marketside Southwest Chopped Kit (Walmart) 10.3 oz. UPC: 681131305129. Best by date: 12/27/2023 – 1/14/2024
- Marketside Bacon Ranch Crunch Kit (Walmart) 9.8 oz. UPC 681131305440. Best by date: 2/3/2024 – 2/19/2024
- Ready Pac Bistro Queso Crunch Salad Kit (Costco) 24 oz. UPC: 077745256139. Best by date: 1/13/2024 – 2/18/2024
Consumers with the products under the recall should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
