HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A woman’s death is under investigation on Hawaii Island.

Officers were called to the scene around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. They responded to a report of a dog bite in the 87-3400 block of Mamalahoa Highway in South Kona.

Police report that a woman attempted to stop her dog from attacking a pet goat. When officers arrived, they found the woman unconscious and unresponsive on the ground.

Responding officers said the woman, identified as 42-year-old Sommer Crivello of Ocean View, wasn’t breathing and they began CPR. They also said that while she had abrasions to her left hand consistent with a dog bite, they do not believe her death was a result of trying to stop the bite.
