Ole Miss Baseball Opens the 2024 Season in Hawaii – The Rebel Walk
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss baseball opens the 2024 season out in Hawaii as the Rebels take on the Rainbow Warriors in a four-game series. The season’s first pitch is set for 10:35 p.m. CT time Friday night and can be streamed on ESPN+.
This season, Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco and his staff have 23 new faces on the roster. Each class across the roster has about the same number of players.
Last season, Ole Miss ended with a 25-29 overall record and a 6-24 mark in the SEC.
Hawaii is coming off a 29-20 overall record and an 18-12 record in the Big West in 2023. The Rainbow Warriors return a veteran lineup for the 2024 season with six players who started at least 30 games a year ago. In addition, Hawaii is coming off one of its best power-hitting seasons, hitting the most home runs in a season since 2010 with 36 while posting a slugging percentage of .416.
Fans will see the arm of right-hander JT Quinn take the mound for the Rebels in the season opener as he will face the ‘Bows’ lefty Harrison Bodendorf. The sophomore Bodendorf returns after a successful first season where he earned Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and a First Team All-Big West selection after finishing 5-2 with a 3.45 ERA and 66 strikeouts over 57.1 innings pitched. He notched a .239 batting average against.
Bianco will call on the arms of southpaw Gunnar Dennis and righty Grayson Saunier to take the mound for Ole Miss in the two seven-inning games on Saturday. Hawaii will send to the bump left-hander Randy Abshier for the first game with the second-game starter TBA.
On Sunday, Riley Maddox will be the fourth pitcher for the Rebels on the weekend. The ‘Bow’s have not announced a projected hurler for the fourth and final game of the series.
