New portrait to be unveiled honoring Hawaii Congresswoman Patsy Mink
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A brand new portrait honoring Hawaii Congresswoman Patsy Mink is about to be unveiled later this month within the U.S. Capitol.
Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi spearheaded efforts to incorporate her portrait alongside others that acknowledge historic congressional members.
Mink is the primary girl of shade and the primary Asian American girl elected to Congress.
The trailblazing Hawaii Democrat was elected in 1965 and served for many years in Washington D.C.
Mink advocated for ladies’s rights and social justice points. She was the driving drive behind the landmark Title IX laws that opened alternatives to ladies in schooling and athletics.
The portrait is scheduled to be unveiled on June 23.
