HPD: Remains found off Ke Iki Beach matches DNA profile of missing 18-year-old
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The HPD Scientific Investigation Section Forensic Biology Unit confirmed Thursday night that human remains discovered off Ke Iki Beach matched the DNA profile of missing teen Joseph “Joey” Fujioka.
The family has been notified.
HFD divers found the remains on Saturday, Jan. 18 around 2 p.m. about 200 yards offshore.
The remains were brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office to be examined.
Meanwhile, the search for Samantha Chun, 17, continues.
It’s been nearly a week since the couple was reported missing after they failed to return home Friday night.
